Springtime Table for St. Pat's

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays. It makes so few demands, and yet rewards us with good food, the promise of spring, and an abundance of my favorite color, green!
I started setting tables in honor of the coming holiday late last week, pulling out a set of salad plates depicting some of my favorite fresh summer vegetables that will soon be planted in my meager garden.

Seeds give off such a feeling of hope, don't you think?
The pitcher was once in my mother's collection, and has long served as a focal point for my St. Patrick's Day tables. Generally I fill it with shamrocks, but this year decided on a floral bouquet from Trader Joe's. Bad idea. By morning half of the flowers had wilted, and by the following day they were dead. Never again!
The black letterP is actually one half of a set of bookends that I recently unearthed, and decided to use.
Green popcorn and chocolate kisses fill white lotus bowls. It wouldn't be St. Pat's without green popcorn!

Pitcher – Fitz & Floyd
Salad Plates – Williams-Sonoma
Lotus Bowls & Napkins – Pier One
Placemats – Three French Hens
Flatware – Crate & Barrel

  1. What a pretty SPD table...♥ the salad plates. Your little leprechaun is adorable. I have bought roses that lasted only long enough to get them home...very irritating. I now avoid them like the plague. I wish I could find a grocery store nearby that had ranunculus...they are so beautiful.
    Happy Saint Pat's Day, Pattie!

  2. Terrific spring St Patrick's table! Those salad plates are wonderful - the veggies on them look so decorative. How fun to have a bowl of green popcorn at each place setting - yum! Maddening about your bouquet but they look nice in the pics.

  5. Oh no! So sorry that your flowers did not last. Your plates are wonderful though! When I think of Ireland I do think of fresh vegetables too so I think they are quite fitting. I am joining you today from the blog crawl as well. I hope you have a happy St. Patricks day tomorrow!

  7. Pattie, Your fiddling leprechaun pitcher is unique and adorable! So nice that you have it in your collection from your mother. It is so frustrating to come home with flowers that immediately wilt and I have had the same problem with roses. Sometimes I can revive them by slitting the stem and submerging for awhile. I do love the plates! I'll sit at the kale setting! Linda
