At the first inkling of spring, I throw the doors open wide, and
breathe in the freshness of the great outdoors. Often this is followed by a
quick slamming of the door, and my grabbing a sweater; fifty degrees isn't
quite as warm as it sounds. But after a winter like this last one, I am ready
for any bird, any swollen bud, and any blade of grass willing to turn green.
I am also sweeping away the winter decor in favor
of some spring touches for my home. This little vignette is one of my
favorites. It is what greets me at the bottom of the stairs and always makes me
smile. It is made up of a collection of some of my most favorite things.
The table and bust were both given to me by my mother. I adore them
both.
The brass lamp was a purchase I made about twenty years ago. No
matter what style of decorating I was into at the time, I always made this
classic piece work.
The picture is one that I found during one of my
very first dates with Mr. O-P. He likes to ferret around in antique shops. I'm
more of a Pottery Barn kind of girl, but would occasionally run across
something that spoke to me. This picture did. The trouble was that it had some
water damage in the lower left hand corner. No problem! I took it to
Michael's frame center, and had a double matte cut in a “T" shape to
hide the damage, and now love the picture.
The flowers are Alstromeria, or Peruvian Lily. I
think this is one of my favorites. They last forever, come in a wide variety of
colors, and seem to be the perfect choice no matter the season.
What are you doing to add touches of spring to
your home?

I love the painting and the fact that you got it on a date with your husband. I also love the bust and the way she is smiling at the flowers.
ReplyDeleteI just did a spring green tablescape in the dining room. I need a new spring wreath for the door and will put the carrot wreath up on the inside of the garage door.

Oh I love the gorgeous flowers and having the stems wrapped in paper looks so pretty. Your bust figure is stunning. Really pretty vignette. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI opened the windows the other day despite the fact that it was 40 degrees! I kept them open for about 10 minutes before realizing that the heat was literally flying out the windows!
ReplyDeleteLove your vignette, Pattie. I have a rather large painting with figures like your painting and have often wondered what time period they are suppose to be depicting. Your picture and choices are just perfect. The only signs of Spring around here are those Tarragon plants. I'm a bit surprised that the pea seeds I planted still haven't "sprung."
Thanks for sharing, Pattie...
Wow I love this vignette, Pattie! All your treasures are just beautiful and so classic. I love pretty lamps, and that brass lamp is definitely a keeper! Your painting is lovely, as is the bust. The addition of fresh flowers is the perfect touch.
ReplyDeleteSpring is definitely playing hide and seek with us this year. Here in N.C., we're predicted to get more rain, sleet and ice tomorrow and Tuesday. Sigh. I hope your week goes well!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Your vignette is very pretty and does look like Spring. I hope that Spring comes quickly for you. We went from fall into Spring - 90 degrees today and the flowers are loving it.
ReplyDeleteThe bust is very pretty along with the flowers - good choices.

What a pretty, classic spring vignette. I adore your wrapped flowers! So so pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! All my bunnies come out for Spring and I play with them adding them to different vignettes around the house. It's not Spring here yet either, but it is inside my house!
ReplyDeleteWhile reading this post, I looked around to find I had left a few snow prints hanging around. You gave me the boost to clear away winter and prepare for spring. Love the vignette with the bust.
