One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Tablescape

With my last table you were treated to the gorgeous leaf chargers sent to me by Marigene Purcell of the In the Middle of Nowhere blog.
I failed to mention that, in addition to sending me these amazing chargers, she also sent me some tablecloths.
Today's table features one of them, one, I might add, that she had used, I had admired, and the next thing I knew, it was mine!
I had a good time setting this table. This one, as the two previous, took me about three days to put together. I was so overwrought with Mr. O-P's care and imminent loss, that it was all I could do to just put one foot in front of the other.
Table settings were my therapy, I told myself, so, little by little, I would assemble them.
Initially this table was set without the bejeweled chargers. I kept looking at it and thought it needed a bit more color. This was when I remembered the chargers I’d bought a couple of Christmases ago. So I dug these out of my holiday bin and loved the look. (I love it when I can use something in more than one way.)

Then, I thought it needed just a tiny bit more red so, while Mr. O-P slept, I ran down to Walgreen's for a bag of Swedish fish.  Perfect!
As a side note, the cobalt blue champagne flutes shown here had been one of our wedding gifts. Do you know that in the 21 years we were married we never once used them?
We are not fans of champagne, but beautiful glasses should be used no matter what, so I have remedied this situation and now use them with my morning orange juice. Celebrate life, people! Use those precious items.

  1. Wow, this table is awesome, Pattie! This is probably my favorite of all the tablescapes you have done. The shorebirds are the perfect centerpiece.
The difference in the way the tablecloth has been used is amazing, isn't it?
I do use my "good" things all the time, otherwise I couldn't justify buying them!
Have a wonderful week...and try to stay cool.

  3. Love your "fishy" tablescape. It surely doesn't smell fishy! I have fish plates but not the bluish colored ones. I love the small white ones as well. Very beachy....

  6. I always LOVE your tables Pattie and this one in no exception! Love the beautiful fish cloth and all the eclectic elements you have combined for this clever table! Don't you just love being able to use holiday things for everyday! The cobalt flutes are stunning, bravo for enjoying them now. I think tablescaping is therapy too, my favorite way to getaway for a while :)

  7. OOO, this is an awesome table...so much personality in it. Anyone can set a beautiful table...but it takes talent to bring things in that set it apart from all the others...love those blue glasses..and so glad you kept them all these years....and I so agree to use those precious things as often as you can...I remember something Erma Brombeck said ...something about she wished she'd burned that beautiful rose candle instead of storing it away in the attic and it melted...a good lesson...xoxo

  9. I love this table Pattie...what a wonderful tablecloth from Marigene! I love how the light is dancing across your fish plates like real fish and their scales. Your cobalt blue glasses would be perfect for sparkling water too. Playing with dishes at the table is great therapy and I love the addition of the Swedish fish:)
