As the sultry grip of a vengeful summer clings
to my little corner of the world, with temperatures soaring into the low 90s
well into October, I find myself yearning for the crisp, eerie embrace of a
true autumn. Here in my neck of the woods, we’ve been teased by a fleeting
“False Fall” back in mid-August—a blissful spell of low humidity (anything
below 50% is a rare treat) and temperatures dancing in the upper 70s. But now,
the heat has returned with a wicked vengeance, melting my candles into ghostly
puddles. Yet, nothing can dampen my Halloween spirit!
Welcome to a delightfully spooky tablescape, crafted for a
bewitching dinner for two, as part of Rita at Panoply’s Halloween Tablescape
Blog Hop.
Picture this: a luxurious black velvet tablecloth drapes across the table like a midnight shadow, overlaid
with a gauzy runner that whispers of forgotten ghosts. At the center, a
haunted house glows ominously, a cherished gift from my son, once purchased at
the long-lost Illuminations candle shop.
Instead of traditional tea lights, I’ve summoned battery-operated black votives, flickering to life with the press of a remote—a modern
spell that casts an eerie, weightless glow. In the background, twisted trees from Pottery
Barn pulse with spectral light, their branches clawing at the air. Flanking the
haunted house are candelabras from Michael’s, their black candles dripping
with gothic charm. The wine glasses, adorned with skeletal motifs from Pottery
Barn’s wickedly wonderful barware collection, add a touch of macabre elegance.
I splurge on two pieces each year, as their price is as haunting as their
design. The witch mugs, relics from Pier 1’s bygone days, cackle with
nostalgia, while vibrant green chargers, inherited from my mother and crafted
in Italy, ground the setting. These are layered with Pier 1’s brown, navy-edged
plates from their Spice Collection, crowned with vintage Halloween-image salad
plates from Williams Sonoma.
A pop of vibrant orange—napkins
and flatware
from Amazon—adds a playful, pumpkin-hued charm to
this spectral scene. Click their names to conjure your own from the digital
ether.
As the days grow darker, I hope the spirits are kind where you dwell, and that
you’re weaving your own Halloween magic. May your home become a haunted haven,
as mine has, filled with spooky delights and chilling charm. Happy October, my
fellow ghouls!

It's always fun to see your tablescapes especially for Halloween with the bright oranges and blacks and just the right amount of spookiness, Thanks
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some cooler days to go along with this gorgeous setting!
ReplyDeleteThose wine glasses are amazing - I would use one every day. I, too, am tired of summer at this point!
ReplyDeletePatti, first, Happy Birthday!! Second, I just love your descriptive writing! When you called Pottery Barn’s prices haunting and a Pier 1 item a relic - I laughed and said sadly you are spot on!! Your place setting has a beautiful fall color pallet perfect for Halloween and those adorable skeleton wine glasses are fabulous! I hope you have a fun Halloween ๐งก๐๐ป
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, gorgeous table setting for Halloween. I love it. The wine glasses are stunning. Enjoy October!!
ReplyDeletePattie, your haunted house centerpiece is perfect and I really like the plates you used to style your charming table for two! Happy Birthday! (Mine is later this month!)
ReplyDeletePattie your table is lovely and I miss Pier 1 and other special places that housed dishes I just couldn't live without. Happy Birthday and enjoy your haunted home. Kari @ Me and My Captain
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Pattie! Did you make yourself a German chocolate cake?
ReplyDeleteI love everything on this table - you are really in your element! The haunted house from your son is magnificent. Oooh I love the remote with votives - I have to get those for Christmas. "Their price is as haunting as their design" - LOL! Enjoy your day.
Happy Birthday Patti. Your table is so fun. Great minds think alike with our haunted houses. The candelabras are perfect with their spooky look. The wine glasses are so fun. Love the plate stack and the flatware and napkins of orange really make the table pop. The spooky trees are something I also used. A pleasure joining you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Pattie! Love your text and scene you set, as well as your plates with your woven pumpkin chargers. Your haunted house makes a spooktacular centerpiece! Thanks so much for the Halloween fun. It’s always a treat to have a seat at your table. ๐ฝ️๐๐งก
ReplyDeleteOh Patti, what a hauntingly eerie table for two! I wish I could join you if we lived closer. Those candelabras are perfect and your haunted house and twisted trees sure set the stage for a great Halloween dinner.
ReplyDeletePatti, this is such a fun table! I certainly relate to the false fall and what our reality is now. I had planned to do garden work today, but an hour was ll I could stand.
ReplyDeleteYour setting give me such joy. Love those darling plates! You asked about my striped pumpkins at Michaels. They had four different designs, all black and white strips. I purchased the ones I showed and the ones with white background and black stripes. They had the same two color ways with the stripes going horizontal. I didn't buy those. They were in the baking section of all places. I just happened upon them. I admit they were a great find!
Happy Halloween! Fingers crossed the cooler temps find us soon.
Ooooo very pretty! I like your plate stacks. I love the touch of green, and the Happy Halloween plates are fabulous! I also love your candelabra because they are so spooky with the candles. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThat house is the perfect centerpiece!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Pattie! Your table is definitely haunting and charming! The haunted house is the perfect centerpiece. The candelabras are perfectly carrying out your theme. Thank you for the descriptive commentary! It was fun to visit with you!
ReplyDeleteGreat table - adore the stemware - they were the first thing that caught my eye! Awesome candelabra and dishes, too! Happy halloween
ReplyDeleteWhat a great table to portray the colors of the season along with the creepiness of all things that go bump in the night! I love the pops of orange, green and brown against the black & white. Your phrasing with the elements (modern spell with the remote and those flameless candles - what would we do without them?), and the haunting price of those must have designs from PB (and WS which, btw, those vintage images on the salad plates are colorized perfectly!). I must say, though, your collecting over the years has brought you a fine assortment to deliver a wonderfully wicked tablescape.
ReplyDeletePattie, I hope you had a birthday celebration as wonderful as your table was in this hop. Thank you for participating!
Happy Birthday Pattie! Your Halloween table has just the right amount of spooky for me! I love your dark eerie mansion with the glowing candles and ghostly candlesticks. The smiling pumpkin plates and orange flatware and napkins add the perfect pop of happy color! I might be too scared to pick up a skeleton wine glass though!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Pattie, what a wonderfully haunting table for two you have created here! The haunted house that your son gifted you makes for a fabulous centerpiece with the twisted trees and spooky candles. Love all the rich colors in the plate stack with the pops of orange from the flatware and napkins, and the salads from WS are gorgeous. Love the text too. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and wishing you a very happy Halloween!
ReplyDeletePattie, I adore that huge haunted house centerpiece. It makes such a statement and just works beautifully with your lovely plates. I love the print, it has such a nostalgic feel for me and added to your colorful plate stack and weaved pumpkin placemat, it enhances the Halloween theme to the fullest. Spooky and fun all in one. Happy Halloween!
