Happy Birthday, Sherlock Table Setting

It’s a rare day/week/month when I offer up two table settings in a row, but as today is the birthday of one of my favorite detectives of all time, I could not let it go by un-celebrated.
This mysterious table for two came together easily. I grabbed my favorite Royal Doulton Toby Jug, a stack of books, a couple of chess pieces, some mini gas lamps, filled some Sherlockian goodie bags, and there it was.
I love paying homage to my favorite fictional (blasphemy to call him fictional, I know) characters, the more mysterious the table setting, the better.
As the sun set and the wicks in the little lanterns were lit, dining became positively magical! What’s in the goodie bags, you ask? Well, that is my own little mystery.
Do you have a favorite book, or series of books? Challenge yourself to create a table setting in honor of the author or main character. It’s a lot of fun to create and even more fun to dine.

What a fun post Pattie! You make it sound like creating a table setting is soooooo easy, lol...Not for me I'm afraid. Yours looks amazing. I love the little goodie bags, although, now I want to know what's inside of them too, lol...

Thanks so much for sharing, Pattie...

Now I'm curious, do you watch the TV show Elementary???

This is a fun way to think about detectives -- I think more in terms of what the detectives ate than in terms of commemorative table settings, but I'm going to try to notice what the mystery authors say about the tableware and linens, if anything. I recently bought one of the numerous Sherlock Holmes cookbooks that are available new or used on amazon.com -- too bad we can't get together on a combined table setting AND menu!

Love your table setting! You have lots of interesting objects on the table, just as I imagine Holmes would have. I am also a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. I have done a few Sherlockian themed dinners, they are a lot of fun! Happy Birthday, Sherlock!
