Whispers of Fall Tablescape

I came up with the name for this tablescape because while it is indeed fall, today as I photographed this table, it was 93°! So, the leaves on the trees are still green, my deck garden is still thriving, and while cooler weather is undoubtedly on the way, at the moment, fall is just whispering.
I love this table! I have really been embracing the quietude of neutral colors lately, and I find them particularly inviting at the dinner table.
The round wicker placemats, the wonderful chargers, nubby spice brown plates, and napkins are all from Pier One. The pumpkin plates are from Pottery Barn, and I love these, not just for the look, but also because they are the perfect size for luncheon plates, or a salad and a roll.
The stemware belonged to my mother, as did the cups and saucers. I borrowed the latter from my dad when I saw him for lunch earlier in the week. These go way back to the 70s, and were, I believe, either a giveaway, or a purchase with purchase at the local grocery store. Remember those days when you used to get free dishes or cookbooks when you shopped at the grocery store? I really miss those days. This set was from Graham Kerr, whom you may remember, if you’re as old as I am, as The Galloping Gourmet.

The crescent-shaped salad dishes are almost as old as the cups and saucers. I bought these when I first set up housekeeping so long ago. I’d like the fact that they didn’t take up a lot of room on the smallish table that I had back then. Trust me when I tell you that a lot of the dishes have come and gone in my life, but the salad bowls are here to stay.

The Driftwood bowl at the center of the table is also from Pier 1, the pumpkins from Pottery Barn. The little pumpkins I found at target. They’re actually vase filler, but I find a fill-in nicely in many places.
I hope you enjoy this table as much as I do.
If you enjoy neutral tables, then this Farmhouse Table might be for you.

This is an awesome autumn table...just gorgeous. I love everything and think I favor your tablecloth. I got rid of so many of my dishes when we moved 5 yrs ago...not sure I can even find enuf to have a fall tablescape.

It's not fall weather yet where I live, either, but your "whispers" table is just perfect! I love your creamy white pumpkin dishes and your pretty centerpiece. One of these days, fall weather will arrive - I hope!

ha ha, Fall is barely whispering here too Pattie, we're still in the 90s too but I've been buying pumpkins and mums like crazy trying to set the mood! I love the soft palette of white and brown, very attractive!
