If you're anything like me, no matter how many cookbooks you happen
to have in your culinary library, you tend to gravitate toward a select few. This
week I have vowed to drag out some of the dusty oldsters that I've been giving
short shrift and try some new recipes, but for today I'm revisiting a book that
has long been a reliable favorite.
I inherited this cookbook when I
married my husband. It was as well-worn and comfortable as he was, and packed
with interesting notes about dinners past. Check out the price - $5.95!
You can hardly buy a magazine for that price these days. We have yet to
prepare a recipe in this book that hasn't been good, but we haven't tried them all,
so today I tested something different, and, no surprise, it was very good. This easy to prepare, tasty bisque can be served warm or cold, so it's perfect year round.

Hi, Pattie! For someone who cooks as much as you do, you have one of the cleanest and least crowded refrigerators I have ever seen!!!!!!! Mine is always stuffed full of containers filled with leftovers!
Both recipes sound good, and I think I have most, if not all of the stuff for the pasta salad. It's a muggy day, and that seems like a good lunch!

Your tomato bisque looks delicious! I love the idea of putting it in a thermos for a picnic! I always tend to gravitate towards my favorite cookbooks, I need to make an effort not to discriminate and visit some other ones :)
Oh my gosh, I used to have that same cookbook! I remember the watermelon sculpture on the front as I tried to make it. It must have gotten thrown out because I just looked and can't find it. I'll have to see if I can find a copy at a used book store.
I forgot to say the soup looks delicious!
It is going to be sleeting for most of the day tomorrow and this would be a wonderful and warming meal.
