Getting Ready for Fall

Fall is on the way. I don't have to look at the calendar to know that, all I have to do is step outside. There is a coolness in the air that wasn't there a week ago.
The mornings are darker, the evenings are shorter, and there is a crispness to the breeze that has me thinking about pumpkins and harvest time. Yesterday, while running errands, I happened to notice that the leaves on the trees are starting to turn. This is my favorite time of the year, and I love decorating for it.
As you all know, I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to dishes for which I make no apologies. I think of all the sets that I have, more of them relate to fall than anything else. I simply cannot get enough of them! Year after year I tell myself I need to stop and not buy any more, and then Pier 1, Pottery Barn, or Williams-Sonoma will come out with something that I just have to have.
One of the things that I find so appealing about setting a table for fall are the colors; I love greens of all sorts, amber, orange, and I particularly love plaids.
This year, Pier 1 had plaid dinner plates that absolutely made me swoon. Fortunately, Pier 1 always helps me out by making certain that one set of dishes blends nicely with another. So, the pumpkin plates that I got for my birthday nearly 3 years ago blend perfectly with the plaid plates of this year.
Now you get to enjoy them with me. Have a look at some of the things I've been getting out for this year. I love blending the old with the new, and I love fall.

I love your collections. I love dishes also. Its a good thing none of the stores you mentioned are near me. I live in an isolated area so I settle with buying older dishes at Thrift stores. I'm anxious to see more of your fall decorating.

These stores aren't particularly close to me either, Thel, I shop online! :-)

I'm gonna hurt you! Why do you tempt me? You know I'm like you. I promise myself not to buy anything else, but then the seasons turn, and bam!!! These plaid plates would go so perfectly with several sets of dishes I already have. Now I want to drive over to Pier 1 and shop!!! I hope you are able to come up with a plausible explanation for Ramon!!! Good luck with that!

I love your dishes, Pattie, and how well they blend together. I finally pulled my Fall decor out yesterday, which is always fun.

I feel exactly the same way!! Those stores hook me so often with their autumn offerings that something new usually makes its way into my dish pantry. Beautiful tablescape. So far I have escaped succumbing to the urge to get those pumpkin plates, but I feel my resolve weakening!!

I love your plate stack! I'm swooning over the plaid plates, and they're perfect with the pumpkin plates. How fun and beautiful. Enjoy your nice weather! :-)

I love it all, Patty. I can never stay out of Pier 1 and Home Sense. Luckily, Pottery Barn and Wm. Sonoma are not too close to me. I share your love of dishes and yours are beautiful.

My favorite time of the year too Pattie! Your plates are gorgeous!
I've loved fall since I was a little girl in northeastern Oklahoma, and oh how I miss the definite changes of seasons down here in deep east Texas. We do get some pretty fall colors, but nothing like those in Oklahoma. And you are farther north and get to enjoy it even longer - yay!

OH I so wanted to purchase those plaid plates when I saw them, but I passed on them and I will probably regret it, especially now that I see your beautiful table!!! They do look like they were made to go with your older plates!! Love this time of year too!!! THe colors, smells and temperatures all appeal to me!

I adore your dishes, and I absolutely love Fall. That may sound strange, since I live in the AZ desert, and we don't typically get an actual Fall. That doesn't mean you won't see Fall inside my Ouse, and I'm all about color! So nice to see the rich Fall colors in your display.

My family keeps telling me I shouldn't buy any more dishes and honestly, I don't have the room. However, those plaid plates are making me swoon as well. Beautiful table Pattie!
