Olla-Podrida: fall table

Autumn decor slowly creeps into position during the latter part of August and early part of September. It’s not that I am not totally ready to relinquish the summer, I am ready to do that in spades, it’s just that I’m not quite ready to surround myself with the warm colors of fall.

Not yet.

Fall colors are noisy. Vibrant, hot, like a fire in full blaze. I love to wrap myself in them when the weather is cooler, but with the heat hanging on, I’m drifting into it rather slowly.

Fortunately, because I love autumn so, I have a BIG collection of dishes. I think I have more tableware for autumn than for any other season or holiday.

This past week, in between taking a bit of a breather, I dug around in the belly of the beast, excavating fall items, bringing up only those with neutral or little color. Here is what I have gathered so far. The flamingo mugs that have been delighting my granddaughter and the dining area upstairs are now tucked away until spring. Soon they will be replaced with the blazing colors of autumn.

Just not yet.

I am late to the party, but nonetheless, having spent time going through every tablescape that I’ve ever done, here are my top 10 favorites. I had to laugh when I looked at these.
