Blossoming into Easter: My Floral Tablescape Makeover

Last week, I shared a serene, sage-toned tablescape and mentioned how “with only a few quick swaps, it can easily shift into bolder, brighter hues as summer draws near.” Well, summer may still feel far off, but with Easter just around the corner, I couldn’t resist giving that table a joyful, colorful refresh!
If you click through, you’ll see the transformation: the beautiful Bordallo Pinheiro geranium leaf bowls have been moved to the side, perfect now for serving a fresh spring salad. I cleared away the herb appetizer plates to let the stunning floral designs on the Portmeirion “Botanic Garden” dinner plates take center stage—they truly shine!
I traded the sage napkins for vibrant floral ones from Pottery Barn that add instant cheer. Out went some of the glassware; in came my beloved salmon-colored water and wine glasses—purchased back in the 70s right out of college because I fell head over heels for them, and I love them just as much now.
The large Portmeirion butterfly cups and saucers stepped aside to make room for Bordallo Pinheiro geranium leaf espresso cups—ideal for after-dinner coffee and a lovely echo of the cabbage leaf salad bowls.

Finally, I refreshed the centerpiece by blending last week’s cherry blossoms with a mix of soft pink and cranberry carnations plus alstroemeria. Voilà—a completely new, festive table is born!
The best part? It really is that simple to transition from one season (or holiday) to the next with just a handful of thoughtful changes. Who else loves playing mix-and-match with their favorite pieces?

Those flower plates!! I love that you purchased those pretty glasses fresh out of college. The linens are beautiful. I love the way you photograph your tables by featuring different parts of it.
I'm wondering why yours is listed as "Undefined" on the list of blogs on the host blog. It's the prettiest table of the bunch! (I might be a bit biased)

A lovely table to welcome spring. The Botanic Garden plates are so pretty. The floral napkins seems to match the plates. Such fun flatware with a touch of whimsy. Bordallo Pinheiro is such a classic look. The salmon colored glassware is pretty. Your centerpiece is wonderful with the cherry blossoms, pink carnations and alstromeria. Always a pleasure joining you at the table.

Patti, what a lovely spring table! The plates are a gorgeous set. I am constantly recreating a centerpiece, using what flowers are still looking good. carnations and alstromeria are good choices for long lasting blooms. I have a vase full of yellow alstromeria bought over a week ago and still looking fabulous. Thanks for the lovel springtime inspiration. Enjoy the spring season and Happy Easter!

Pattie, Portmeirion Botanic Garden is my everyday pattern and I love the mix of floral and botanical details. It makes for a beautiful table for any season and I love them paired with Bordallo Pinheiro. I love the pop of color from your salmon-colored goblets too. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Wishing you a happy Spring!

Pattie, the Portmeirion collection is such a classic (love that leaf edging especially), and so is the Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage. You've demonstrated quite nicely how to transition existing inventory into a completely new and fresh look. That wonderful base neutral linen with the large cross-stitched lines is sharp, and the floral napkins really work so well with the floral on the Portmeirion. And that glassware! Beautiful color! Salmon, peach, apricot - it's one of my absolute favorites. I love that you fell for that in the 1970s and it still is a favorite.
Pattie, thanks so much for being a part of this group, sharing your beautiful style.

Pattie, You really took the anxiety out of transitioning a tablescape from one theme to another. I have heard from others who are not fellow tablescapers that they do not want to take all of the time and effort to design and set their tables for various occasions. But you have showed us all how simple and easy it is to set a table and change it up for another holiday. I love the changes especially to the Bordallo Pinheiro items. You can do so much with them. Very beautiful choice in salmon colored glassware. Have a very Happy Easter.

Pattie, what a fabulous table for spring! I love the Portmeirion series and your collection looks great with the BP geranium espresso cups and cabbage leaf salad bowls. The salmon glassware is divine and how clever of you to choose that back in the 70s - wow. Love the napkins and the flower centerpiece is beautiful. It was a treat hopping with you and I'm wishing you a happy spring and joyous Easter!

Patti I believe we all can agree we love the Portmeirion Botanic Garden pattern dishware. It never goes out of style and I also like your pretty salmon glassware....which obviously has the same steadfastness. How talented of you to show our dear readers how easy it is to transition from one table styling to another with just a few changes. I would go one step further in saying one could do that with ANY season. Thanks for your inspirational table. Have a wonderful Easter and keep on hopping with us. 🌸🐇

Hi Pattie – I also love turning one table into another! Your dinner plates are so lovely, and I’ve fallen in love with your salmon glassware too – SO beautiful! Thanks for walking us through the transformation. It’s always so fun to hop with you! Hope you have a wonderful Easter and spring!

Pattie, I had to check out your prior table so that I could compare the two and see the transformation. (Although this table could easily stand on its own.) I think the former was all about the greening of spring, while this celebrates its blooming immersion in pastels. The plates are lovely and the glassware and napkins add their colors to the mix. The centerpiece is stunning. Happy spring!
