Haunted House Tablescape for Halloween

There’s something magical about setting a beautiful seasonal table. Year after year, I refresh my collection by waiting for those glorious post-holiday 50% off sales. Yes, it means holding onto new treasures for a full year before they shine, but the wait is always worth it.
This year’s Halloween centerpiece is pure joy: a Pottery Barn cookie-jar haunted house I snapped up last season, complete with its matching salt-and-pepper shakers. I adore anything haunted and anything house-related, so this set felt inevitable.
To give the little manor a proper backdrop, I added a pair of glowing light-up trees, and the whole scene instantly came to life.

For the foundation, I chose a rich chocolate-brown tablecloth layered with a gauzy cheesecloth runner in a lovely champagne color. A touch of green felt essential, so I slipped Monstera-leaf placemats underneath (because “monster,” of course — it is Halloween).
Over those went thick, woven black placemats for depth and drama.
The place settings continue the story. Weathered-green melamine dinner plates from Williams-Sonoma provide a sturdy, earthy base. Stacked on top are Williams-Sonoma’s Vintage Halloween salad plates, each featuring a cheerful jack-o’-lantern and the classic “Happy Halloween” greeting.
A pumpkin-hued cup and saucer stand ready for cappuccino — the sweet wooden spoon with leaf is just perfect for stirring in the right about of sugar — while an orange coupe glass awaits champagne. Water is served in a vintage Fostoria Woodland Brown goblet I inherited from my mother—an heirloom that adds quiet history to the table.

New this year is the gold hammered silverware. Its soft shimmer catches the light and echoes the gold accents on the salad plates. Bold orange napkins deliver the final pop of color, tying everything together with festive energy.

The result is a table that feels slightly spooky, warmly inviting, and thoroughly ready for Halloween celebrations.

Wow! What a gorgeous table - I'd love to see it in the dark! So much to enjoy here - the Pottery Barn pieces - I don't have enough words - they are just perfect, cool, beautiful. I love that little leaf spoon in the pumpkin-colored cup. I love that you didn't just do orange/black - you added soft autumnal colors and made an eye-catching masterpiece!

Your table is charming Patti, and what a great idea to wait for a sale and tuck away the prizes until the following year. The only problem I have with that is I would forget I did such a thing and would go out and perhaps buy the same thing at full price only to discover at another holiday, my duplications. 🥴. Ask me how I know this?
The cookie jar and matching salt & pepper shakers are so cute. I love s&p's and have way too many of them. Your WS Happy Halloween Salad plates are perfect. I don't believe I have seen those. I like how you introduced the subtle green which brightens up your darker Halloween colors. All in all, your table captures the spirit of Halloween and I can only imagine the effect when the lights are down and the mood is up.

Those aren’t melamine, Linda, they are porcelain.

Wow, I love the vintage look of the plates. They are fantastic! :D And the haunted house makes such a darling centerpiece: I expect Scooby Doo and the Meddling Kids to come running out of it. I also like the retro look of the orange cup and saucer. So cute! Happy October and Halloween!

Pattie, I love the haunted house theme and the PB cookie jar and matching S & Ps carried out the centerpiece to perfection. Love the added gnarly trees for a bit of spook factor. The salad plates are so pretty - I haven't seen those before - and the green dinner plates and monstera leaf placemats, and pumpkin-colored cups and saucers add a wonderful softening overall tone. The new gold-hammered silverware is lovely and it's so special that you used your mom's vintage goblets. Wishing you a warm October and a happy Halloween.

Pattie, I love your table details, and your method of shopping your favorite seasonal pieces is one I also like to do. Certainly your patience paid off, and those pieces shine here (especialky with the twiated trees, love those). Great finds from PB and your vintage WS plates are perfectly suited. I'm loving the coupes, cheesecloth runner and flatware finds too Those will be quite versatile for fall tables. So will the cups & saucers ans those sweet wooden spoons.
Thanks so much for bringing your love of spooky and your gift of classy to the hop!
