When my dad bought his new extra-wide, high-powered snow blower last fall, I figured we were in for a snow-free winter. Not so; we had our first measurable snow this week. Inasmuch as I am more than ready to set my first table for spring, I decided to make use of some of my favorite wintry goodies for the quick change from my Valentine's Day table.
I kept the striped placemats in place, topping them with round woven placemats from Pier One.
The often used polka-dotted bordered plates with full winter design showing were more than appropriate. I could have used that horse-drawn sleigh this morning.
I swapped the white Alstromeria from the red Fiestaware pitcher into a neutral vase, and replaced the white cups and saucers with these wonderful Williams-Sonoma Santa and Sleigh mugs. Santa really isn't visible from the front, so these work perfectly.
A plate of “Snowy Day Cookies” awaits consumption.
